1. Your files never leave your device
Every tool in DocKit — merging, splitting, compressing, converting, signing, OCR, redaction, translation and everything else — runs locally inside your browser. Your documents are processed on your own computer and are never uploaded, transmitted, stored, or seen by us or anyone else. When you close DocKit, the files you were working on are gone from memory. We have no server that receives your documents, because there isn't one.
2. No account, no tracking
DocKit does not require an account, login, or sign-up. The extension contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no telemetry. We do not build a profile of you, monitor which tools you use, or collect information about the pages you visit. DocKit only runs when you open it.
3. Information we store locally
DocKit saves a small amount of information on your own device (using your browser's local storage) so the app remembers your setup between sessions:
- Your preferences and settings
- Your workspace state
- Your Pro license status, once activated
This information stays on your device. It is not sent to us and is not shared with anyone.
4. Pro licenses
If you purchase DocKit Pro, we handle a limited amount of information solely to issue and validate your license:
- Your email address — provided by you at checkout, used to send your license key and to verify the key when you activate Pro. It is stored securely and used only for licensing.
- Your license key and a purchase reference — stored so we can confirm a key is genuine when the extension checks it.
When DocKit validates a license, it sends only the license key to our licensing service — never any part of your documents. We do not use your email for marketing and do not share or sell it.
5. Payments
Payments for DocKit Pro are processed entirely by Stripe, a third-party payment provider. Your card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout and are never seen or handled by DocKit or by us. Stripe's handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
6. Translation
DocKit's document translation uses your browser's built-in, on-device translation capabilities. Text is translated locally on your machine. As with every other tool, your document content is not uploaded to us or to any external translation service.
7. Permissions
DocKit requests only the storage permission, which lets the extension save your preferences and license status locally on your device, as described above. DocKit does not request access to your browsing history, the content of web pages, or your tabs.
8. Children's privacy
DocKit is a general-purpose document tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Because DocKit's design is built around keeping everything on your device, we don't anticipate changes that would reduce your privacy.
10. Contact
If you have any questions about this policy or how DocKit handles data, email us at hello@niallcodes.com and we'll be happy to help.
