The short version: Pipette collects nothing and sends nothing.

No account, no analytics, no tracking, and no network calls at all. Everything you do in Pipette happens on your own device and stays there.

No account No analytics No tracking Zero network calls Local-only storage

Who we are

Pipette is a Chrome extension published by Florence Publishing Ltd (United Kingdom), trading as niallcodes. You can reach us at hello@niallcodes.com. This policy explains exactly what Pipette does and does not do with information when you use it.

What we collect

Nothing. Pipette does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There is no account to create, no sign-in, no email capture, and no usage analytics. We do not know who you are, what you pick, or that you use the extension at all.

What Pipette stores — and where

Pipette saves a small amount of data so it's useful between sessions. All of it is stored locally on your own device through the browser's extension storage, and none of it ever leaves your machine:

You can clear all of this at any time by removing the extension, or by clearing its storage from chrome://extensions. There is no cloud copy to delete, because there is no cloud copy.

Network activity

Pipette makes zero network requests. It does not download rulesets, check for updates itself, phone home, load remote code, or contact any server for any reason. The extension runs entirely offline from the moment it's installed. The only exception is entirely under your control: if you click the "Buy me a coffee" link or a "more tools" link, your browser navigates to that page (Ko-fi or niallcodes.com) exactly as any link would — Pipette itself sends nothing.

Images and page colors

Two features read visual content, and both are processed entirely on your device:

Permissions, and why each one exists

Chrome requires an extension to declare the capabilities it uses. Pipette requests the minimum it needs, and each is used only for the feature described:

activeTab
Lets the loupe magnify pixels of the tab you're viewing, and lets the page scan read that tab's colors — only when you start a pick or a scan.
scripting
Injects the loupe and the page scanner into the current tab at the moment you use them. There are no persistent or background content scripts.
storage
Saves your recent picks, palettes and preferences locally on your device, as described above.
sidePanel
Opens the workspace side panel (the color wheel, palettes, contrast checker and export tools).

Pipette does not request broad host permissions and does not run on your pages in the background. It also uses the browser's built-in screen eyedropper for picking, which is why it can grab a color from anywhere on screen without needing wide access to your browsing.

Children's privacy

Pipette is a general-purpose color tool suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.

Third parties

There are no third-party services, SDKs, analytics providers, or advertising networks in Pipette. Nothing about your use is shared with anyone, because nothing about your use is collected in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If Pipette ever changes in a way that affects this policy — for example, a new feature that needed a network request — we would update this page and the "last updated" date above before that feature shipped, and describe plainly what changed and why. The current privacy-first design is a deliberate, permanent choice, not a temporary state.
