Who we are
Snipdrop is a Chrome browser extension produced by niallcodes, a trading name of Florence Publishing Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. You can reach us any time at support@niallcodes.com.
The data Snipdrop handles
Snipdrop is a screenshot, snipping and image-downloading tool. To do its job it works with the following, all of which stays on your own computer:
- Screenshots and snips you capture. These are created and stored locally in your browser, used to show your last snip, your capture history, and to save files to your chosen folder.
- Text extracted by OCR (a Pro feature). When you copy text from a snip, the recognition runs entirely on your device using a bundled engine. The image is never uploaded; the resulting text is placed on your clipboard.
- Images you choose to download from a web page. Snipdrop reads the addresses of images already present on the page you are viewing so it can show them to you and download the ones you select.
- Your settings and preferences, such as your chosen save folder, default format and folder list, stored in your browser's local extension storage.
None of the above is transmitted to niallcodes or to any third-party server. Snipdrop has no analytics, no tracking pixels, and does not record your browsing history.
What we collect
Through the Snipdrop extension itself, we collect nothing. There is no account to create and no sign-in. The extension functions fully offline aside from the actions you take (such as downloading an image that already lives on a page).
When you buy Snipdrop Pro
If you choose to upgrade to Pro, the payment is handled by our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe collects the information needed to take a one-time payment, including your email address and card details. We never see or store your card details. We receive your email address and a record of the purchase so that we can send you a license key. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
Your license key and the email address associated with your purchase are stored by us solely to issue and validate your key. License validation sends only your key and the product name to our server to confirm the key is genuine — it does not include any of your captures, browsing data or personal content. We use Resend to deliver your license key email; their privacy policy applies to that delivery.
Permissions Snipdrop requests, and why
Chrome requires extensions to request permissions for the capabilities they use. Snipdrop asks only for what it needs to capture, save and download on your behalf:
Where your data is stored
Everything Snipdrop creates lives on your own device — in your browser's local extension storage and in the download folder you choose. If you uninstall the extension, this local data is removed by Chrome. Files you have already saved to disk remain yours and are unaffected.
Children
Snipdrop is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because Snipdrop stores your captures and settings locally, you are in direct control of that data and can clear it at any time from within the extension or by uninstalling. For the limited purchase information we hold (your email and license record), you may request access to or deletion of it by emailing support@niallcodes.com, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
