Is my data private? +
Yes. Snipdrop works entirely on your device — captures, OCR and downloads all happen locally in your browser. There's no account, and your screenshots are never uploaded to a server.
How does "drag to upload" work? +
After you snip, your most recent capture sits in the Snipdrop popup as a draggable thumbnail. Drag it straight into any file-upload field, email, or chat box and it drops in as a real image file — no need to save it first and hunt for it in your downloads.
Is Pro really a one-time payment? +
Yes. Snipdrop Pro is a single payment of $9.99 (launch price) for lifetime access, including all future updates. No subscription, no recurring charges. You'll receive a license key by email to activate Pro.
How does the local OCR work? +
Snip a region of the screen and Snipdrop reads the text out of the image, copying it to your clipboard. The recognition engine runs fully on your device — no image is ever sent anywhere. The engine loads the first time you use OCR, then is cached.
Where do my screenshots get saved? +
By default, every capture auto-saves to a Snipdrop folder inside your Downloads, and you can change that folder name. With Pro you can save to any folder on your computer, including drives outside Downloads.
Which browsers are supported? +
Snipdrop works on Google Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers including Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi.
